In 2020 Ninty-Nine CASH GRANTS AWARDED TO TEACHERS
Where does all the money raised go?
On February 6th, The Newport Mesa Schools Foundation (NMSF) awarded 99 grants to teachers from our Newport-Mesa Unified School District. The Foundation received grants requests from 28 of our 32 schools in the district. The average grant given was over $900!
Teachers created their projects and submitted their applications for the monetary grants in the fall of 2019 and awards were made early in 2020. NMSF assembled teams of grant readers from around our community and these volunteers evaluated each grant application. All grant requests received multiple blind-readings which result in a score assigned and grants are funded until the money runs out.
This year's grants included "Energizing Enviorimnental Solutions" from Eastbluff Elementary School, to "Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead" from Victoria Elementary, and "Let Your Voice be Heard?" from Davis Magnet Elementary School and "Rooting for Readtopia" by Costa Mesa High School.
All grantees were invited to Newport Mesa Schools Foundation's annual awards dinner and invited on stage to receive their checks, certificates and "Apple Award".
